Indoor plant advice in the UK virtually non-existent online

FreesiaIt’s so frustrating finding a guide to hardy indoor plants in the UK.  The RHS is not much use online, except to offer a plantfind database and other UK sites are selling but not really advising.  Almost all advice sites are U.S. or Australian – here, here and here, for example.

Even when, in a fit of frustration, one googles “best british indoor plants for britain”, it comes up with a fat zero, advice wise.  That’s why it was good to see the Telegraph article about freesias.  Even if the advice is meted out one plant per day or so, persistence will allow you to gather information that way.  Most annoying.

Wouldn’t it be lovely if non-green thumbs such as me could learn of six or seven hardy indoor plants which are very difficult to kill off.  The benefits of having houseplants have been stated in many places and I’d like to make a start.

If anyone knows of any suggestions for good indoor plants, please advise me in comments.

Not surprised that you don’t get anything for “British indoor plants” given that indoor plants are usually non hardy in British climates. You might consider culinary herbs – attractive grenery and a tasty addition to food!

Ah, is that the reason? Yes – windowsill boxes of herbs, eh?

Oops! It was the best of the three. I will try again.
