2-all at half time

Flag3sRedCrossThe subject line says it all.  Pretty unprofessional of FIFA when they don’t have linesmen in place, cameras on the line and extra officials at each end to prevent this sort of thing.  It’s not just this game either, is it?  Travesty with Kaka, possibly with Harry Kewell and one or two others as well.

Is there no mechanism for reversing wrong decisions which are on film, from different angles – decisions which affect the result?  Even the Germans in Munich conceded the goal but are laughing.

No Joe Cole?  Gerrard not in the central action?  Back to the old Capello?

2nd half coming up.

16:23 That’s fair enough. Even as 5 Live described the free kick, saying that only Ashley Cole was back, it was obvious even to me that a counter attack would find England out. Sigh.

16:26 Well, that puts the goal in perspective and in a strange way, it’s better that it’s so clearcut now. Shocking defence, shocking team management, Rooney’s a useless baby. Just what can England do with their football? All they can do now is Zulu and fight on till the end – Germany doesn’t like pressure near their goal.

16:36 The one and only thing I can never forgive is the dropped heads now. It’s so alien to anything I understand about how to operate – you never, ever, drop your head and slow down when you’re representing your country. You go down peppering the goal and causing mayhem till the end!!!!!

It’s the England spirit which is really, really worrying.

16:44 Rooney’s “couldn’t care less” play now. So self-pitying. Will England ever get it right?

16:56  “Money is sloshing around and we’re getting absolutely nowhere.”  [5 Live just now]

Today starts the rebirth of England and if it doesn’t, then what sort of country are we these days?   By the way, we’re winning the cricket.

I know you don’t rate Capello but he isn’t a centre back. Our shocking defence has made it abject failure.
The team is wrong to concede so easily.
Much better passion, not much better ability.

Agree with Lawro.. David James is the best player and he’s conceded 4.

Fair enough, Bill and you’re right about the defence but a lot of that was Capello getting them to play out of position, unnaturally and not tailoring the game to the team he had – not excusing the players in any way. Yet he was trying to squeeze the team into his mould and it just didn’t work.

Yes, the team were awful in their heads and the defence was childlike in its naivety. This bunch of players were pathetic – I don’t believe they cared about their country so you’re right in that respect.

That said, if Heskey is the answer what the hell was the question?

Yeah. What do you think of 4-4-2 against 4-5-1?

When you play so poorly it doesn’t really matter what formation you adopt.
Might as well have played 7-2-1 and just lost 2-0.

Even the most remote Siberians appreciate a time for silence.
