My beloved

Reading about Calum Carr’s car and its various ailments reminded me of days gone by.

This is a photograph of a painting of a photograph of my beloved Alfa.  Sadly she died of old age in 2006.

I still miss her.

1988 – 2006  R.I.P

She was a fast and flighty floozy in her prime but I loved her madly.

Don’t wish to insult you, JD but doesn’t one need two Alfas – one to drive while the other one’s away being repaired? 🙂

    My thoughts exactly!

For an Alfa to get to 18 years it must have had an extremely gentle and mollycoddled life.

Not really Chris although it had below average mileage (97000 at the end)
Alfas are a lot better than they used to be.
Electrics are still as eccentric as ever however 🙂

Oldest car I had was a 525 BMW which was 11 years old when she was nicked in 06. They smashed the window of our friend’s car that was blocking it in, shoved that out of the way and punched a hole through the door near the lock to get in. Since the doors are pretty solid and lined in leather that was some punch.

Reason for this comment is that she had 197,000 miles on the clock on a petrol engine. I’ve come across diesels with that sort of mileage but the engine on this car was a sweet as a nut. Barely run in.

The thief tried to run over a copper in Manchester, crashed the car trying to drive away, got nicked and she ended in the knacker’s yard. RIP
