Nautical Humour

Rossa:

Keeping things ticking over for James, we begin with…

Carrying on with the nautical theme I was told this joke today by my Dad.

To set the scene, the Canadians and American meet “at sea”.

Canadians: Please adjust your course 15º degrees South to avoid collision

Americans: Please adjust your course 15º degrees North to avoid collision

Canadians: Please adjust your course 15º degrees South to avoid collision

Americans: Please adjust your course 15º degrees North to avoid collision

Canadians: Please adjust your course 15º degrees South to avoid collision

Americans: We are the US Battle group. We have an aircraft carrier, 4 battle cruisers and 6 destroyers, please adjust your course to 15º degrees North to avoid collision

Canadians: We are a Lighthouse. Advise you re-consider your position

A bit dated but years ago the US Navy was exercising with the RN, as the units approached the rendezvous position the US Admiral signalled “Good morning and salutations from the World’s biggest navy”
The junior British Admiral replied “Good morning and greetings from the World’s best navy”.

“Permission to birth alongside, port side to”

“Granted but bring your own hot water and towels”
