Paris is not my favourite city but it cannot be denied that it is very picturesque.
Start with a familiar sight. There must be thousands of photographs of this building with the cupola in the background so, like a boring tourist, I snapped away.
And the tourist trap of Place du Tertre where the production line caters for the gullible.
It’s a long climb up to Montmartre and a long climb back down to the city centre.
A long climb to the top of the Arc de Triomphe but worth it to watch the traffic.
And after a day at the races a stroll back home through the Bois de Boulogne.
One of the delights of Paris was always the 1st class on the Metro. Don’t know if that still applies but I always travelled in the red seats in the middle carriage Oh, and I loved the smooth ride on the rubber wheels on some of the lines.
After two periods living and working in Paris, I am in no hurry to return. The only reason to go back would be to visit the Picasso Museum (as if I hadn’t already spent far too much time in there) or to go to Longchamp on the first sunday in October. Next year perhaps……..
