How to play the piano

Edward Kennedy Ellington (1899-1974) is probably best known as the leader of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, which he was for almost fifty years.  Not so well known was his prodigious talent as a piano player.
Here he is with a superbly inventive version of what became his ‘signature’ tune:

    And yet Teagarden thought him overrated.
