Watercolours

Watercolour painting seems to be all over the news recently with a new exhibition at the Tate and a BBC television programme.

Not sure why this is happening but it is a welcome relief from the relentless artbollocks and “challenging” conceptualist drivel.

Perhaps CH4 will bring back Watercolour Challenge, who knows?

So I shall fall for the marketing/PR hype and I am persuaded to return to the medium and have another go.

These were done about 12 or 15 years ago. The two tulip pictures were partly done with flourescent paint which does not display too well on screen but looks good in reality.

Room for improvement, no doubt but by the time I am 100 years old I might just be getting the hang of it.

“Watercolour painting seems to be all over the news recently…”

Perhaps, it’s because we have a wishy-washy government.

I can imagine the tulip colours are quite vibrant in reality. The top picture is my favourite.

P.S. I can see from the two tulip paintings, exactly what you had on your mind about 12 or 15 years ago.
