The Prime of Ms Ronstadt

If we can clear our minds of the political emptyheadedness of various artist[e]s  – after all, we don’t expect a surgeon to be a formula one racing driver or a master mechanic an authority on Proust – then it becomes easier just to enjoy the music.

I hate quite a lot, but then some is excellent – If you can’t appreciate any of it at all on any level then maybe you are not listening for the right things or have misplaced expectations? Even my father – who hated pop music – loved Scott Joplin rags, which were after all pop music of their time.

“Of their time” is the point. I enjoy a few eras of pop, the last being the one of yer Beatles an’ that.
