    Whoever wrote that has obviously never tried tzatziki sauce or gazpacho.

    NOoooooo!!! Sinful waste! They should be left to marinate for a very short time then sandwiched between slices of nice rough wholemeal bread spread with proper farm butter…..and scoffed at once. πŸ™‚

    Cucumber, 99% water, waste of space, just like lettuce.

    I grow the round, yellow Crystal Lemon variety. Delicious, thinly sliced with homegrown tomatoes, red onion, feta and dressed with olive oil, basil and plenty of black pepper. A big chunk of crusty Pain de Compagne with sea salt butter and you have a lovely ‘taste of summer’ lunch….yummy!

    Like the squash family there’s more to cucumber than the ubiquitous boring green variety in the shops.

    Made me hungry now so off for my brekkie πŸ™‚

    I just bought the bog standard Polish pickled cucumber in banechka or sealed jar and it is yum with a capital Y.

    Old Sam was a bit astray on the cucumber methinks though I see where he is coming from if he’s into hard tastes such as coffee, red wine and spirits.
