Latest incompetent lightweight with no life experience sent to look after our interests in parliament. Supposedly she’ll quote the wisdom of Morrissey and Robin Williams:
‘I get free cocktails and nipple tassels right?’ Lastminute.com founder, 40, becomes youngest woman in the Lords as Baroness Lane-Fox of SOHO
Web guru Martha Lane Fox later deleted her joke about taking a seat on the famous red benches, insisting it was a ‘very serious privilege’ to have been appointed.
Not an effing clue. Why? Why is this youngster appointed to a responsible position of protection of our interests? I’m voting no confidence before this joke even transpires.
Let’s look, on the other hand, at two politicians from the era when they were different:
Before entering politics, he had been a classical scholar, becoming a full Professor of Ancient Greek at the age of 25. During the Second World War, he served in both staff and intelligence positions, reaching the rank of brigadier in his early thirties. He also wrote poetry, his first works being published in 1937, as well as many books on classical and political subjects.
And from the other side of the house:
“President van Rompuy is a very expensive insult to the taxpayers of Europe.
“He is unelected, having been chosen during a dinner. His annual salary of £273,814 is greater than that of President Obama and, although funded by the taxpayer, he cannot be voted out of office.”
He added: “However, this is a drop in the ocean compared to the £252 million being spent on the creation of a palace for him to work in. President van Rompuy is part of the new overpaid and unelected political elite which is now the real Government of Britain and all the other member states.”
Now I ask – which two of the three have the gravitas to be in parliament?
