Dinner thoughts

This is about dinner [lunch] below, supper will be haddock and rice. Issue was I had these ingredients left over, plus some easy-do, cheating things at hand and couldn’t be bothered peeling potatoes this time:

ingredients

Julia posted she was doing leek and potato soup, that gave me ideas:

preparation

Sort of a cottagy shepherdy pie thingy- the potato with crème fraîche woven in.

This below was some minutes from the end, taken out for the pic, it needed a bit more time, then a third down the hatch, rest away in a tub]:

almost done

Now a confession for afters – choc buttons. As I can’t crunch choc now, for dental reasons, there had to be a below 2 years old solution to the choc intake issue:

As usual, dear reader, it would be nice to know what pièces de résistance you have in mind today or tomorrow.

For lunch I had corned beef (a great favourite) with some of a wonderful potato salad my wife made last night. Take pink fir apples (from the garden, last autumn), boil, cool, cut up, immerse in a sauce of mayo, dijon mustard, tarragon, lemon, and salt & pepper.

    I do love tarragon.

Chocolate buttons? Make yourself some chocolate ganache with proper chocolate and suck it off the spoon! 😀 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MvZh05gOjE
