Comments sections can be heaps of fun

The Meg story seems to be hotting up, at least in the mind of the Wail and as usual, it is the readers who are entertaining.

Says a Sydneysider:

She’s a bit dark, isn’t she?

You can imagine the reaction.

There was talk of her being from Toronto, being from LA but an American put us straight:

No she’s straight outa the LA hood. She works in Canada. Her mom lives in Compton, you can’t make this kind of comedy up.

There were questions about that show Suits, again answered by an American:

Suits is on at night, one night a week–unlike the traditional soap opera on during daytime. For what it’s worth. But it’s not particularly popular nor well regarded.

Then there was dear Joanne who at least stayed on topic:

The Article on Noel Edmonds says he looks ten years younger than his 68 yrs- no way he looks around 75. Come on DM, cut these crappy stories.

I was going to comment, asking if it meant Megs should drive a Megane but thought better of it.

Then this came up and I spilt my coffee:

She’s slightly crossed eyed…

No, she’s not.

Oh yes she is.

Someone actually asked about what would be on her coat-of-arms and some wag replied:

Two ginger nuts and a banana.

A royal watcher set everyone straight:

Westminster Abbey announced back in May that they would be allowed to be married there. Do your homework.

And a good Catholic set her straight:

Well, Church of England does not stand for anything does it? The Abbey was built by Catholic monks who were murdered and the Abbey stolen from them.

Luv it.

“Catholic monks who were murdered”: the old monster Henry VIII had rather few monks murdered – mainly he pensioned them off. When his daughter Mary tried to entice them back to monkery almost no one took up her offer.

Anyway, the Abbey wasn’t paid for by the monks but by the population, whose descendants became Anglicans and Protestants for many generations.

“”…. whose descendants became Anglicans and Protestants for many generations.”” Not that they had any choice in the matter, anymore than the monks.

      Theft is theft.

Unless of course that ‘justification’ means that the aggregated wealth of Mulsims here and abroad can simply be confiscated. But I would not expect anyone to take that lying down.

Ha! The monks weren’t murdered: the Abbey’s own website says ‘On 16 January 1540 monastic life at Westminster came to an end when Henry VIII dissolved the monastery and the deed of surrender was signed. Many of the monks retired or went into “civilian” life. However, the Abbot became the first Dean of the new Cathedral Church founded by Henry and the Prior and several monks became clergy in the new church.’

“Not that they had any choice in the matter, anymore than the monks.”

You might as well say that their ancestors had no choice but to become Roman Catholics once the Pope flounced out from the rest of the old Catholic Church in 1054.

No doubt banana “rampant” in the coat of arms.
What does it matter where they marry? None of them seem to take their public vows seriously. Maybe they should amend the wording to “in jiggery and pokery with whomever takes the fancy”.

Wonder if this is why that racist Philip retired?
I think Harry and Catherine have something going on.
