Nothing Strange in being Deplorable

It’s really puzzling the base why Donald Trump is insisting on supporting the swamp rat Luther Strange over the clearly Deplorable Judge Moore in Tuesday’s Alabama runoff.

One suggestion was that Strange has a better chance of re-election in 2018 than Moore and Trump needs a GOP man, however much RINO, than a Dem.  Maybe but it has not gone down well:

I am more than a little tired of hearing about loyalty. How about being loyal to MAGA and the people that elected you. He is being loyal to a well known GOPe swamp creature. The GOP is fighting you at every turn and you still are trying to appease them, it won’t work. Not only are they obstructing you in making your appointments, every single one of them voted to block your recess appointments. I never thought I would be saying this to you Mr. President, but get a clue!

And that same rule, which equally applies to the dithering quisling May:

The greatest and most dangerous flaw in any leader is a desire to be loved by all, including the opposition. Trying to be loved by sworn enemies is a sure way to lose your true friends.

There was once a reader of Nourishing Obscurity who wrote, in high dudgeon, that I appeared to treat my obvious political foes far better than I treated those onboard with the things at N.O.  That may have been so, I can’t say but I’ve tried since then not to do that.

I think the reason is that one cares about those onboard, one’s own people and criticizes in order to set straight, whereas with clearly opposed people, there’s no point and so one can just be polite, as one would with a stranger.

The Donald seems to want to be loved by all, he sees himself as representing ‘all Americans’ and the enemy is part of that.

It’s stupid and naive.  If you appoint a foe, he is not going to be grateful, he will connive behind your back, fail to carry out directives, fail to support at critical times.  Trump sees his foes in the WH as astute political operators and the Bannons and Gorkas as unsophisticated and given to saying what they think.

But that was precisely how he got into power – he’d never have got in as a straight GOP RINO.  Yet he seems to crave legitimacy from them for some reason.  It’s his crazy ‘take no prisoners’ which was what people wanted.  They’re still chanting ‘lock her up’ and he says, ‘See Jeff Sessions.’

No, YOU do something, POTUS, that’s what you were put in for.

There’s a whole Trump Regretters site online.Shall we be seeing you there soon?
Trump is a blithering egomaniac who is only interested in what the highest office can do for him.He is not interested in “presidenting”…..off with his (meat) head!

He’s the only one protecting the west just now. The alternative in November was too terrible for the world to contemplate, which was reflected in 62 plus million rejecting the leftist destruction. The irony is he’s even keeping you and me safe. Unlike Trudeau and May.

It amazes me how you get it and them but not him.
He owns over 200 companies, some construction, which I am sure would be the winning bid on such projects like The Wall and all the privately owned for-profit prisons he wants to build as he criminalizes the nation a la Blair and Brown(which you rightly objected to).He wants to militarize the police giving them and the army even more power. He uses phrases such as “safe zones” in America, suggesting he would,if he could, institute Martial law and restriction of movement within the U S of US citizens.
He does not ascribe to freedom of speech, freedom of the press or governmental transparency….no doubt, the Wall’s real function is to keep people IN as much as OUT(don’t forget,Mexico does not share extradition treaties with US),for when his army of militia overtake the streets, rounding up the (no doubt) micro-chipped citizens who voted in his violent regime to ‘going with’ the terroristic, criminal immigrants.
How can you ,of all people, not see this?
When UK wanted to bring in identity cards(which we both opposed),they did it under the think veneer of curtailing illegal immigration.
Trump is using same tactics for more horrific (hidden)agenda.
How many would shout “build the wall!” If they knew it was to prevent and restriction freedom of travel to anywhere from Americans BY Americans???!!
And when politicians can imprison the competition or naysayers ,there goes even the pretense of democracy!

Yes but in the lesser of two evils, he’s it. There’s no way a Clinton could have been put in, was there?

        Trump is everything you oppose.
At least HRC was articulate, very intelligent, highly experienced and diplomatic enough to deal with N Korea more effectively than oaf there.
This guy behaves as if he is on reality TV.
HRC won the popular vote which would have secured the election in any other country but US,who had to disregard nearly 3 million votes to get Goofy in.
How is that a democratic election when 3 million votes were irrelevant?
How mad would you be if that was your vote tossed in the bin?

Read James Wilson’s comment, which is the point I’ve made too.

Clinton is a criminal – Vince Foster, Whitewater, Seth Richards, the list fills a book. You can’t choose not to see and claim rational input to a discussion.

Plus she lost both the popular vote [illegals, dead people and ballot fraud adjusted]. Trump has his issues and he is going against Deplorability right now, which Deplorables are watching closely and it may well be as you say in the end … but it might be otherwise.

Bottom line is that with him it’s long odds, but with Clinton – only the insane would vote for that harpy and the left truly are insane. As Steve Bannon said – she’s not all that bright, Hilary. Career criminals with no soul tend not to be bright.

As for left liberals, see The Doors’ song The End, the verse starting: “Lost in a Roman …”

“Now there is no clear political advantage is to be gained through such acts by the establishment, mainstream media or gun control advocates. If a mass attack were to happen, it would only bolster Trump’s calls for better vetting of immigrants, border security, and 2nd Amendment rights. So they stop. Very interesting. Of course, mass shootings and terror attacks will never completely end. Yet the suspicion is there will be much less under a Trump Administration. Just an observation that many may be thinking themselves.”

I love it when people trash Trump when they never saw, even by hindsight, the greater mistakes–or intentionally malicious acts–of his predecessors. They are prodigious. We live in a rule of Deep State, probably an irreversible condition. Trump has only enemies in that state, and how he chooses to conduct himself in a hopeless position is entirely his business. Since we did not approve of his methods or his style against all odds in being elected, I will demonstrate the humility to wish him the best and expect the worst in the actual battle.
