Thursday

1.  Decnine, Distant Relative and others have noticed strange things going on here – Thursday becoming Wednesday etc.

I’d like to say the dateline has moved but it’s more a case of landlord, outside drain clearing, electrics, handwashing clothes after the boiler repair, the boiler repair, boatbuilding, having teeth extracted and doing the week’s shopping.

As one ages, the ability to combine with blogging diminishes. Oh, plus there was a heart issue I had to get in touch with the heart hospital over and we’re awaiting results on that.

None of that is terminal but what is terminal is the way the days are now rushing by, simply whooshing past and I’ve not got all that many of them left.  This might necessitate a rethink.

    3. I dread to think what the current yUK Schools reading list is like for 14-15 year olds. In the 80s we too read more modern ‘classics’ than old (thankfully, Shakespeare sucks IMO) things like “Ring Of Bright Water”, “The Siege of Krishnapur”, “Rogue Male”, “Animal Farm”-there were no doubt others but despite being ‘modern’ none of them tried to dumb us down, infact Rogue and Animal probably gave us more ‘Political Education’ than the ‘Current Affairs’ lessons that our Headmaster decided ,to remove from the curriculum in favour of double French, would ever have done….with the justification “Watch John Craven’s Newsround if you want to know what is going on in the world”.

Like it would bother me? I never know what day it is anyways. It’s taken me 30 years to learn my kids’ names….

You remember you have kids? Impressive.

Hard to forget when I get almost daily “Daaaaaad I need money for food” emails from Eldest Useless Object or ‘Little More Mad In The Methadone’ as we affectionately refer to him. Or Crippled Son getting all ‘zombie apocalypse is nigh’ and wanting us to take an interest in the firearms techniques of the Ruritanian Presidential Guard (whom he shares a gun range with). And as for youngest, if he doesn’t ring us then his 2 year old daughter will…before passing the smart phone to her 3 month old baby brother to dribble into….at least I assume its dribble….

Blimey – I can’t say I’ve noticed that. Don’t know how you do it.
