Bugger pics. Today has been windy, cold, and dull, in spite of the Met Office predicting a sunny, summery day. So we had a winter dinner – haggis. I took the opportunity to continue my campaign of drinking up odds-and-sods accumulated over the years. Today it was a 330 ml bottle of Westmalle Trappist Dubbel (7%). It was delish: malty and fruity. Well done the Antwerpers! Especially since its ‘best before’ date was 19/6/09.

Here in England though it was 22 degrees and sunshine all day – excellent building weather though I did get a sunburnt neck and legs.

Westmalle Trappist Dubbel – Waitrose keep it. I feel obliged to try a younger bottle.

330ml – does that touch the sides?

That isn’t the point with these beers James. Most Belgian beers are usually at least 6% ABV. My favourite (Rochefort 10) is 12% ABV.
Most are somewhere around the 7-9% ABV as you’d expect. What is more you have some 2000 to choose from. You can have a Witbier (White Bier) and go through most colours until you get to the Black Beers (like Rochefort 10 above). They all taste fantastic, but you don’t throw them down your neck !
