thorns are derived from shoots (so that they may or may not be branched, they may or may not have leaves, and they may or may not arise from a bud), spines are derived from leaves

A planet is an astronomical body orbiting a star or stellar remnant that is massive enough to be rounded by its own gravity, is not massive enough to cause thermonuclear fusion, and has cleared its neighbouring region of planetesimals.

So Pluto doesn’t qualify. Would Bluto qualify if Popeye could hurl him into Solar orbit?

On the same off topic, who would be your modern day Alice the Goon? Or any other Popeye character, or even any cartoon character. Rich ground methinks.
