What on earth was that all about?

Has to be the most bizarre story I think I’ve seen in the media for some time. I was sent a Bing page featuring the story, Bing being a search engine or aggregator, so there are accounts from all the media, great and small:

All right, what I get from that is that in some crazy failing by her entourage, she had a drink spiked and was raped, which is appalling – but all the same, alarm bells rang that there were a lot of inverted commas in that, which indicates, as a rule, that it’s not quite as stated, that maybe someone is simply claiming it.

So, my thoughts at this point changed from an outraged post defending her and maybe linking it with the jihadis or whatever, chavs, those with no respect … to some caution. I went to The Times – couldn’t get the story because of paywall, went to the Mail and got this:

That editing is mine – I’ve discreetly cropped her assets which were hanging out of her sequinned dress or whatever material it is.

Then I noticed the usual sleaze rags had the story, and then I saw an actual Welsh site:

https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/north-wales-labour-candidate-says-16925062

North Wales Labour candidate says she was spiked and raped over her politics

Emily Owen said she was spiked and then raped by an unknown attacker, who she believed to be a far-right extremist

Somewhere else, maybe at the Mail, had been this text:

Miss Owen hit back in an angry Facebook post in which she branded the comments ‘disgusting’ and said she decided to speak up to call the sexist behaviour out.

She wrote: She added: ‘What is NOT ACCEPTABLE is flooding me with messages about what sexual acts I’m prepared to perform to get votes, what bra size I am, how many votes needed for me to strip and comments suggesting the reason I’m standing is to sleep with an Oxford grad.

‘I’ve been debating ignoring it but this behaviour is disgusting and needs calling out!!!

Oxford grad?  Her?  Debating ignoring it?  Trauma like that?  Again:

‘What is NOT ACCEPTABLE is flooding me with messages about what sexual acts I’m prepared to perform to get votes

Well yes, quite agree with her but all the same, there is that Mail photo but on the Welsh site with the pro-Labour stance, naturally the photos were all modest, little girly, her with her pet dog etc.

Now, we know that it depends entirely how the media portray you – the Mail, being global left Tory, is going to put her down, while this global left Labour site just now was going to praise her and present only her good side.

In support of her good side, they ran a video you can access, where she is campaigning to be MP and almost immediately, there was something else wrong – she was off her brain. She’s talking about large numbers of supporters helping her when she’s feeling ‘wobbly’ and she’s for everyone who feels wobbly it seems – look, you can see it if you want, that’s the impression I got.

At this point, I went back trying to find where she was actually raped – the details – was it at a party, when was it? Found out it was 2018.

OK, so where are the outraged supporters of her story? I’m starting to get the feeling, by this stage, that it’s very much like Ford and Kavanaugh in the States, with the gal mate of Ford refusing to corroborate, not remembering in the least.

It’s taken me awhile, being a bit slow today but it’s starting to dawn that this girl is either lying of her own volition or forces are using her for their ends and she’s not too particular. Manchurian?

Then I saw these Twitter/Facebook/whatever posts from OTT men – what on earth possessed them to act publicly like that?

What I mean is, it’s so OTT – there has to have been something she did, no?

And no, I’m not saying in the least that she ‘deserved’ her fate, if there even was one … but it’s really bizarre just how OTT those men are. and yes, obviously I condemn them, firstly on aesthetic grounds, then on moral.

Was starting to get the idea this girl was a bit meatheaded, quite loose in the way she presented herself, reflecting the lack of education today and so on … but the overriding thought now is – whatever were Labour thinking even putting her forward as a candidate? She knows nothing, she’s a mental mess with her ‘wobbliness’, what on earth is this all about?

As an MP for Labour? Scratching the bonce here, puzzled.

As a footnote, I then went to a regular bulletin on this Swinson and it’s talking about her knockers.  Something so puerile about the whole political business just now.  I’ve tried to present, at this site, reasons why the modern woman or the Millennial should not be near any sort of power over others – go back through my posts and judge the tone for yourselves.

So my penultimate thought was that the minimum age for MPs should be 35.  I do think there used to be sane, well brought up girls [the ones I taught] and I can think of a dozen who’d be quite good as candidates – the Andrea Jenkyns type but then I remembered her own background of infidelity and thought –  goodness me, there don’t seem too many good ones around at all.

My final thought was that age was not necessarily the determinant of quality, was it?  I mean, look at Paedo Harbag wanting to be Speaker. Really low quality people altogether – where are the quality people these days?  Are there any standing?

Last time Labour adopted that criminal fellow in the North of England – he’s now without the whip but hanging on to get his handout when he loses the seat next time. He’s a ginger – can’t remember his name.

In Peterborough they successfully ran that crooked solicitor who was jailed for lying about speeding. I remember at the time the papers said that even she was astonished to be nominated for the seat.

“Really low quality people altogether – where are the quality people these days?”

This seems to be the problem – failing to attract good, moral, capable people. Maybe such people are not required, merely adaptable actors which is a very different requirement. In which case, youth and inexperience may be seen as an advantage by those who are really pulling the strings.

Every one of us can think, offhand, of two or three people who would fit the bill for society – they never get past first base. Whoever does the political party equivalent of HR has so much to answer for.

I’ve found the scoundrel whose name I couldn’t remember. But I don’t see any evidence that he’s a criminal so I withdraw that suggestion.

From the article: “The 25-year-old did not report the incident to the police, and would not say where it took place, but that it happened last November.”

Let’s accept that there may be circumstances where a rape victim doesn’t want to involve the police, although the stranger type of attack she claims happened isn’t the sort you brush off. When she does report it though it is to the newspapers.

Let’s accept that she had her own reasons to not report a politically motivated rape and that it actually happened. She is content to allow a maliciously motivated rapist continue to walk the streets putting other women at risk.

Her priority as she states to the Welsh newspaper is to make a “very important point…”, not the rape. The rape is embellishment to the ‘very important point’ and secondary. This does not sound likely.

I believe her when she says, “I’ve got through this as I have an amazing network of friends and family, but many of them think I’m crazy to want to stand as an MP.”

Her rapist made it “explicitly clear” (unnecessary language) the it was politically motivated and he achieved this after placing her in a drugged state.

In summation, she will make a very fine politician.

Spiked her drink, eh? With alcohol, perhaps?

What the fuck is a politically motivated rape?

Is it one that gets you sympathy votes?
