    It’s good to see that Europe is dominated by banks and breweries. The oldest in Ireland doesn’t surprise me one bit.

    The Royal Mint is not where the arrow shows it, but in Wales. Its own website gives its origin as “1450, London”.

    The Bank is not the oldest Scottish business: “First established as a business in 1136 by King David 1st of Scotland, Aberdeen Harbour is, according to the Guinness Book of Business Records, the oldest existing business in Britain, with a history that has spanned almost 900 years.”

    The claim though was “oldest company” so maybe they can define their way out of that by lawyerly argument.
