Follow me? Really?

For every ‘covid’ rejecter down at the beach on spring break, – and I won’t use that word compliantly because we’re meant to comply and I shan’t comply, get knotted – there is also a complier, as we were at the hospital yesterday.

When I got there and everyone was in a line stretching to the road, two metres apart, I thought what the hell but then thought – everyone was being so nice about it, there was no reason to be ornery, I was happy to join in because they were humanity deeming this as a sensible precaution, it was a nice scene, plus I need space. And the Vitamin D was lovely.

Oh how quickly and happily everyone complied, every new patient arriving complied.

The presence of even one armed guard would have had me rebel [verb] against Them. Which is not too good for a former Headmaster and decades earlier – second lieutenant. And this blog – so many angles from readers, shades and variations – its very point in existing, its variation, not its NPCism – is its strength …

If it has any.

We can live in a confederacy, not in a federation. Take a look at Charles’s comment in the sidebar – he chooses to approve and that’s all anyone can expect. He chooses to.

On a railway platform, shortly after returning from Russia, the tannoys immediately blasted out that if you did not obey the rules, this was deemed an offence and the full weight of the law would fall upon us.  Not ‘welcome, ladies and gentlemen, have a nice journey’. The disembodied voice, drunk with CP type power, then said the cameras were on us. Charming.

Take a look at this at the Burning Platform:

Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness; only power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from all the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing.

Why do I think Pelosi when reading that? But even within that ‘we’ is ‘I’. Agatha Christie, in N or M, had Grant say it has always been the same – the one committing the atrocity for ‘the greater good’ is doing it, not just for brownie points nor just out of fear, not even just for money, but for the egomaniacal, individualist reason of wanting to personally ‘make a difference’, to personally ‘make his or her mark’, to be remembered.

That is the sickest form of individualism … a twisting of its noblest feature. You know the wartime spirit, whether or not it existed. Do you know what would stop me imbibing this spirit?  Someone over there jumping up on a box and saying, ‘Follow me!!!’

Nope. Shan’t. He’d have to get me to buy in first. Maddening for Oberfuehrer Johnson. The Donald seems to do it a bit differently.

This is what the armed forces and CIAs have been trying to do since time immemorial – to break the human spirit, like breaking in horses, to create clone armies. This is what left plus right are about – complying with somebody else’s vision. And when they don’t? Then they splinter off – the Judaean People’s Front. Just the idea of ‘Front’ is anathema to me.

How does anything get done?

Why does anything need to ‘get done’?

Now, against that, there is this:

What does one do about the idiots out there and their panicking?  Their non-compliance?

Oh, and what of snitchers?

Brits call 101 to ‘snitch on their neighbours’: Police warn of being inundated with calls over breaches of Boris Johnson’s total coronavirus lockdown

A Russian song from the 90s is on a similar theme – called Za mnoi, За мной, it means, roughly, follow me and again I ask … why?

      “It is deeply troubling
Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu is helping the Chinese Communist Party obfuscate the origins and trajectory of #COVID19, at the risk of health around the globe.

      But not surprising.

Snitchers…over in the U.S. we are flooded with PSA’s that encourage us all, but especially school kids, to,’say sumpin.’

‘If you see something say something.’

It is usually encouraged in the guise of telling authorities about bullying. Sure it is. It is creating tattletales, busy bodies like Mrs. Kravitz, but who cause way more harm.

I have known bullies who would have pretended to have been bullied themselves had it gotten their victim in trouble for being the bully instead.

Also, in the airports we are to say something if a bag has been left unattended…not quite the same as a snitch. Unless it is my bag!

D.R. are you still on sabbatical, or taking a sabbatical from your sabbatical? You have been missed.

DR is like a majestic bird from a far off place who flits in and flits out – come to think of it, not unlike you, Toodles – can’t be held down to questions or explanations, can’t be contained, we’re just lucky. Shy, very shy, as all N.O.ers are. Butter wouldn’t melt.

Aww! Bless you Toodles! Sabbatical having a sabbatical

Was forced back from my Bucket List Travels by a certain bug and the powers that be. Almost, almost prevented from returning to my one and only home by border guards trained by Adolph. “Prove you don’t have a home in ……..” The BLT is rescheduled for later on in the year. Hopefully bigger and better.

      To Mr H 😀
