I left out so many – just could not slot them in. Will have to run a second post some time soon. Had to delete Subterranean Homesick Blues, from where the header title came.

I’m not a great fan of most of Dylan’s albums, Many great songs but I’m less keen on the arrangements. With one big exception ever since I first heard it, Desolation Row just gets to me, it’s mesmerising and I could listen to it all day- I’m not sure why although the second guitar is somehow the key, it sounds so simple but it’s so effective.

Stephen Stills, after Dylan had been in there with them, was not impressed. “He writes good songs but he’s no musician.’

Gone into more in today’s four songs.
