    That’s an awful lot of words about astronomy. I suspect the account that used to be given to schoolboys got to the nub of it. Copperknickers, Tycho Brahe, Kepler, Newton. After that it’s mainly bigger and better telescopes and a lot of detail.

    I don’t know why that particular bit of my schooling sticks so well in my memory – perhaps it’s mainly because it’s such a riveting tale, and so much more interesting than King Whatsit fighting King Thingumybob.

      Yes, I found it an awful lot of words too but the field is interesting.
