Lunch will be roast tatties with ‘slaw, accompanied by whichever chutney we’re trying to polish off at the mo’. Mango and ginger, I expect.

Can anyone recommend a good aubergine pickle or aubergine chutney? Waitrose used to do a stormer but they changed the recipe and now it’s nowt special.

We had roasted poulet, gravy, roasted parsnips, roasted garlic and natures little fart bombs. Belated Christmas dinner, sort of, because we were both ill for the one in December.

    Re Aubergine pickle/chutney/relish.

We make this from this online recipe and find it delish with cold cuts and strong cheese.

Some of the best I’ve had have all been in Italian restaurants or deli’s, this sort of thing –

and inevitably family type recipes ‘made by granny in the home kitchen the night before’ sort of thing, but very nice indeed.

Perhaps someone like Tracklements make something similar?

Since the corner store got rid of their chutneys, the closest to pickled eggplant I can find is shibazuke, which is usually served as part of oshinko (pickled veg assortment).

      Sounds most oriental.
