China

The reason for this post is that certain things were written among the millions of words by people who might know what they’re talking about.

One I saw at the Wail read:

I wish people would stop underplaying this virus by comparing it to the common cold or to flu. The truth is that there is an awful lot we don’t know about this virus, how it can mutate or resist modern medicine, all the ways it can be transferred from one person to another. The speed at which this has spread and the sheer numbers it has infected (the real figure is much higher than the already high figure China has declared) means that we should absolutely be worried. That our government has refused to follow the leads of other countries by banning flights from China shows how little they really care about this.

OK, let’s add to that a comment by long time commenter Wolfie who wrote:

Nobody is going to be laughing when things really start to get underway. R0 is nearly 50x that of the flu.

I don’t know what RO is and it googled out to nothing.  Also, wasn’t well at the time.  I just realised he may have meant R0, which brings this up:

The basic reproduction number R0 is the number of secondary cases which one case would produce in a completely susceptible population.

Now, sticking with Wolfie, many years ago at the start of the old version of the blog, he suggested I keep my eye on China:

It seems it was after I returned that I took my eye off the ball, also sources seemed to die away at that time and I got myself into blogwars etc.  Now, in 2020, I can say that certain policies of Johnson are going to devastate me personally and this blog as a result of a series of links in a chain – I’m on the end.

5G is a major topic which needs looking at and how the UK, Hong Kong and China slot together in defiance of the US.  Huawei is on the list.  I need good sources.

Search engines

Bing is better than Google and yet both censor via algorithm – thing is, I know how to surf google to get what’s needed – it’s the questions within sites which occasionally come up- it takes time to build sources again. Gab has its limitations.  There are some people I know within the industry but people of few words.

This sort of thing? Though you might have it already – haven’t checked out the links above – got eye issues at the mo.

Read something today in passing that stated US will not be sharing intel with countries using Huawei – if UK goes ahead then they’re stuffed – sorry no links and can’t remember where I read it.

Re search engines – Startpage.com is mostly what I use. Can be a bit hit’n’miss at times since certain entities started messing with us.

This is the best summary that I have found – hope it can be opened …

An excellent YouTube summary of the report below by a Professor of Neurobiology at UPitt is available here. In addition to origins of natural recombination … More

All my medical contacts are deeply concerned. I’ve filled our chest freezer and am stocking-up on basics – this is looking serious.

    I suggest you do likewise.

System was just tested in trial run – nine days was fine for food. It was a seven day turnaround trial.

Lekky and gas loss are next. They’ve done this one already, wiping out wall meters months ago. Chap next door is still waiting for his to be reconnected. Mine’s long back but my company sent letter that they’ve been taken over by next door’s.

So far with this it appears to be geared more towards the Chinese DNA. I haven’t seen any figures that show the race of the infected people not in China – I do know the one death in France was an 80 year old Chinese male but they haven’t released any more info of those that are down with it.

Very much – I thought long and hard about the two competing notions on it:

      1. Ascribe all to incompetence and cascading failure;
      2. Ascribe it to malice, using incompetence as the vehicle.

I just had another viral attack, two such last evening, and in each case, it followed the same pattern as the nine days, so was countered by measures. I can’t counter ‘it’ but can drip feed the body in a way with all it needs to fight.

A family would need to have this whole thing sorted in their heads.

DR pointed out that it eases off – yes it did today, became less frequent, but then suddenly it hit again. I don’t mean the gooey but the pincer grab which wracks the body.

That’s why I’m up here with seven minutes left to go, then chair, no net.

I have always been a bit of a hoarder, now that has gone into overdrive. Enough for two months at a stretch. I’ve got a supply of wood and solid fuel coming this week. There are plenty of tea candles and other candles in the house. Mercy might be a problem. I will pay up some of those quick charge thingys for my phone and tablets. Basic medications also, aspirin and stuff.

Agreed that it appears to target east Asians most.

Be good to one another, stay calm and keep the faith. It will all blow over or it may be the 2020 wotsit that Svali alluded to. I’ve got me gold and silver stashed close for when money is worthless in a worst case scenario.

We’ll meet upon the other side whatever happens.

I hope Mercy will not be a problem. Autocorrect changed Leccy to Mercy. I hope that’s not a bad omen for my future.

Ah, just remembered. Lay awake wondering what else. Water purification tablets, chlorine dioxide. Kills most viruses. Now, back to bed, perchance to sleep.

The bane of loo roll. The anxiety, the worry.

The RO is how many get infected from a single person. The RO is talked about as if 50 get it from one infected but that doesn’t look right outside China where the rates are probably reported accurately. We are talking about RO of 2 to 3 which is about the same for SARS and the one before that and so on.

I notice you wrote RO whereas I think the term was R0.
